Sliding bypass doors maybe a term unfamiliar to many people. Perhaps the less usage of this term makes it lurk into the shadows of the limelight. Actually, many of you may have already seen these doors. I bet almost all of you have seen them but you may have just termed them as plain sliding doors. Actually, they are really just sliding doors. They are installed in such a way that each sliding door panel passes in front or behind the other panel during opening and closing. This mechanism led to the term sliding bypass doors. As many of you may have noticed, most hotels use these in their room closets or wardrobes.

Bypass-type sliding wardrobe doors are usually installed in dual panels. That is, the entire door assembly is made up of two evenly sized door panels that slides in front or at the back with respect to each other. Each panel has its own guide rails at the top and at the bottom. In most door rail systems, ball bearings or rollers are utilized in order to achieve a smooth sliding action that produces little and non-annoying sliding sound. This also achieves convenient and easy opening and closing of the doors. Furthermore, there are some designs that utilize more than two panels though. But those are left up to the preference of the interior designer or the room owner.

Just like with other sliding closet doors, bypass doors are available in various types in terms of material composition. They are available in wood, glass and polyvinyl chloride ( PVC ). When it comes to wood bypass doors, louvered panels are the most common designs, perhaps, due to their elegant nature that fits most closet designs and room themes. Glass bypass doors are widely available in clear panels, frosted panels and milky panels. Although glass panels are quite heavier than the other types, they are symbols of an exotic ambiance that revolves around the room. In any case, many individuals have been greatly satisfied in using a glass bypass door. Lastly, sliding doors for the wardrobe that are made of PVC are, as many would manifest, the most durable. As some of us may know, PVC is a great innovation by humankind. Because of its inert nature, it has the ability to withstand and be resilient against the elements that causes corrosion and material deterioration. Not only that, PVC is a lightweight yet sturdy material that has found its way in many things invented by man. When it comes to sliding bypass doors, they have made their presence widely felt. Although they may cost more than the other types, they certainly can be a nice option too.
